ABOUT OXBOW:
Oxbow Design Build is an employee-owned cooperative and small business that brings together thoughtful design and skilled construction. As a full service design-build company with a licensed architect on staff we offer a single point of contact for projects of any scope or complexity, from concept design to finished build with care and craftsmanship.
We offer the flexibility to work with us in the way that best suits your project. Oxbow delivers projects from design through construction, or handles either phase independently, offering full design and build services, consultation/design services alone, or construction of your already-designed project. We approach every project with the same level of communication and detail.
Oxbow Design Build was founded in 2015 by Carl Woodruff, Chris Millette, and Noah Modie. We officially converted to a worker-owned co-op in August of 2019 with the help of the Valley Alliance of Worker Cooperatives.
COOPERATIVE VALUES:
A worker-owned cooperative is a business model where the employees are also the owners, sharing in the profits and decision-making. By working with a worker-owned coop, you support fair labor practices, local economies, and a commitment to sustainability, all while benefiting from dedicated and motivated workers who take pride in their contributions.
TESTIMONIALS
It was a pleasure to have Oxbow design our addition. They worked with us every step of the way and their expertise guided the entire project. The end result is something we will cherish forever. Thank you Noah and team!

This project finished right before winter 2020. Kitchen renno and integrate/winterize 3 season porch off of kitchen. Found Carl very communicative, honest, responsive, commitment to sustainability, and “went to the mat” with 3rd party suppliers to get things right. Excellent craftsmanship, excellent sub contractors (ex. electric, HVAC, etc) . Cannot tell the difference between custom made items (cabinets, shelving) and those ordered from 3rd party. Had an in-house designer to help us with our vision and our quirky circa 1900 house.

We used Oxbow for both architectural design and fabrication on a large commercial project. In a world of fluctuating timelines and estimates, Oxbow followed through on both and we were incredibly happy with the final product.

My husband and I hired Noah at Oxbow Designs to design a new home to replace a small cottage by a pond… …Noah was patient, thorough and professional every step of the way. We are very happy in our new home! People in our community are still remarking on how it sits so perfectly on the pond and blends in with the beautiful surroundings.

Worked with them from start to finish – before I bought the house I brought them in for a consultation, and they oversaw all architecture, demolition, construction, and more (like the table). A pleasure to work with them, very reasonable cost, and a high degree of professionalism. Easy to work with. They took my vision and brought their own ideas as well – a positive collaboration.

We have had Oxbow work on many projects for us over the years. They are excellent in so many ways, attention to detail, creativity, and communication, to name a few. They are always professional, and lovely to be around! We highly recommend.
